Meditation is the art of stilling our mental and emotional turbulence.

In its simplest application, it can be used for relaxation and stress reduction, and bring us to an awareness of the necessary interconnection between our minds and bodies. Meditation can help us manage our physical and emotional pain and give us a tool to use to cope with the apparent disharmony in our lives.

At a deeper level, meditation can help us to release emotional blockages. It can help us to face and work through our pain, and bring healing to the heart and body. This healing allows us to open the heart and integrate our spiritual nature with our mind, our emotions and our body.

When our mind and emotions are balanced and harmonized, then we have access to our true inner spiritual nature. We begin to have a healthy appreciation for our life and the lives of others. Our world is seen through new eyes, and we can start to perceive the interconnection and interdependence of all creation.

In this program, you’ll learn to transform old habits, move forward in your life, trust in Universe and acquire the skills to be a Spiritual Leader to help others.

This is a unique 10-month 150-hour in-depth and comprehensive training program where you’ll learn to assist others to grow and develop their personal spiritual journey and learn how to be an instrument of the Divine. The core 130 contact hours provides an experiential exploration of meditation, mysticism, philosophy and spiritual lifestyle training. The additional 20 non-contact hours provide an opportunity to experience compassionate service.

 

What can this Training do for you?

This program has given tools to many people in calming excessive thoughts in their minds, they’ve learned meditation techniques, and they’ve learned more about spirituality, and are more in touch with themselves and a bigger energy. It’s been a great addition to yoga teachers who are now empowering their students.

The meditation training with Tony was quite simply amazing. I did my yoga teacher training 20 years ago and was focused on the asanas (postures) at that time. I did practice breath work but found that any meditation was challenging as I was just too busy moving to be able to get still and focus. Over the past 5 years, I have become more interested in meditating and decided it was time to learn more. The key benefit for me was I learned so many new meditation techniques. I had no idea there were so many methods and strategies you can employ to be able to become silent. Tony is so knowledgeable and has so much experience that he is a great teacher to learn from. I also really enjoyed the once monthly Sunday sessions. One memorable moment was when we went to the Vedanta Society of Toronto temple and heard a talk from a Swami on the story of Buddha. I am currently using the skills I’ve learned in my own practice and sharing with close friends. I am hopeful to be able to share more with others in the future.

Our lead trainer’s spiritual journey began in 1972 and has extensive degrees specializing in religion studies. He has been teaching meditation for almost 20 years now, and we’re honoured to have him run it in our studio.

Tony Murdock
Program Director

Tony’s spiritual journey began in 1972 when he met his guru Ramakrishna Ananda while traveling through Southern California. After studying with him for 5 months, he received his spiritual name Vishnu Das (servant of the preserving aspect of the Divine). From this point forward, he has dedicated his life to personal spiritual unfoldment.

Tony’s interest in spiritual development fueled an enthusiasm for world mysticism. This led him to study Comparative Religions at York University and California State University Fullerton. After completing his Honours Degree in Comparative Religions, he continued his academic studies and received his Master’s degree from McMaster University in Sanskrit and Hindu Religious History, with a minor in Christian Studies.

Since 1998, he has been facilitating meditation classes and workshops in various parts of Ontario and Vancouver, BC. Tony’s personal practice and coursework incorporate a blend of meditations drawn from a variety of religious and spiritual traditions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity.

This meditation teacher training is unique in that you can START ANYTIME!

2 Weekends:

50 Hour Meditation Intensive (Fall)
40 Hour Healing Meditations (Winter)
40 Hour Spiritual Leadership & Ethics (Spring)
20 Hours Compassionate Service (Throughout)

Dates & Times:

Classes are held in Mississauga, St. Catharines & Burlington (at Chrysalis Yoga) and via SKYPE.

Classes at Chrysalis are on Thursdays @ 7:30 – 9:00pm, you can view HERE. Monthly workshops have to be attended as well.

    • St Catharines (Tuesdays, 6:45 – 8:15pm at Yoga by Sarah)
    • Mississauga (Wednesdays, 7:30 – 9:00pm at Mind to Body Yoga and Fitness)
    • Burlington (Thursdays, 7:30 – 9:00pm at Chrysalis Yoga)
  • Spiritual Day Retreats and Silent Day Retreats, which are held at:
    • Wellspring in Oakville (9:00am – 5:00pm, or 10:00am – 5:00pm)
    • Other locations TBA
